Reply with quote | #1 | When I put my 74 super on the road last year the dash was perfect. I have noticed that this year I have two cracks starting above the speedo. The cracks are about i/4 inch long. Is there any way to stop these from getting bigger. I have seen some that are huge and don't want this to happen to mine.
Thanks for any information you can give The PUTZ |

The only solution to this era of Beetle dash is to buy a cap for it. The whole dash pad for these is not aftermarketed and when it was it was rather expensive. If you can't swing the cap there are flexible sillicone based fillers which can be used to fill the cracks. You can follow up by using Marhyde vinyl paint to give it a new flexible black surface. It will not look as professional as the cap but it will be an improvement over a cracked dash pad. |

Mine cracked tecades ago from the hot Arizona Sun. I bought the one that just cements over the old one. It looks great and you'd be hard pressed to know any different. I also bought one of those custom made dash covers that looks reaaly nice. __________________ Loren R. Knapp
