i have a 72 super beetle, the valve came unkeyed and dropped in the piston and blew a hole about fist size in the top of the piston im rebuilding the motor and i know that 71 and on in the us the 1600s were the same motor in the standard and super but can i use the same cam, crank, and push rods? im going with a 94mm piston dual port heads twin carbs counter weight crank 1.4 rockers with a bigger cam .513 lift with a 203 duration cam i use standard 1600 parts thrown in there too or do they have to be specifically for the super? will they interchange?

The stock engine in the super was the same engine that was put in the standard bug, so yes any parts you would have reused in your combination from the stock super engine you can get from a 1600 dp standard Beetle engine.

On the dished cam gear and oil pump that is for the year of the engine and not whether it's a engine for a super or standard. But in your post you state

When you buy the cam get an old style non-dished gear to go with it and you are going to change out the oil pump anyway right. Also and I'm really not trying to down grade Whitney but for the engine parts you are describing I think I would find a more reputable vendor. And last before you start out on this adventure please look at this site and read their tech articles.
