Hello friends,

I have owned a stock 75 Super vert since 2005.  It was Canary Yellow when I bought it, but a friend painted it in 2009 Mazda Kiwi Green with flake.  I still love the color, but 5 years of daily driving and some minor rust bubbles means it's time for re-painting.

Does re-painting a non-VW color greatly affect the value of a 75 Super?

Does anyone have any suggestions on colors for re-painting?

Thank you,

Darren

Is your Beetle all stock? If it is stock I would stick with the original colour. If it is a custom job then you can go crazy! Also keeping it stock saves painting the insides of the doors, hood, etc.

That's assuming the previous flake, er, owner didn't do that with the green flake.

As far as value is concerned, taking care of the rust properly should be a priority -- not just the overall value of the car, but whatever you spend on a respray as well.
