It seems that most movies have a Beetle or a Bus in it somewhere. How many movies can you name that have an air-cooled V-Dub in it? All Herbie movies are exempted

I'll start it off...

The Skeleton Key - Kate Hudson drives a red Beetle

"Love, Valour, Compassion"

also, on the TV show from the '70's, "Alice"... the three girls team up to buy a classic Beetle sunroof sedan from the diner owner, Mel.

I just saw a movie "Darkness" or something like that, and i think at the end, this guy was driving a Black Bug. The scary part was he end up getting killed.

There's a nice 11 window bus in "Easy Rider" when they are at the hippie commune. Also a movie my daughter has, "Small Soldiers" with a younger Kirsten Dunst in it, has a black 70's vert in a couple of scenes.
And on that same note, I recently found out that back in the 80's my "59 split window bus was supposed to be in the movie "Little Man Tate" with Jody Foster I think it was. It has an easily removed Dormobile camper top and they were going to use this feature to set a camera up there for some shots. A guy contacted me from Samba and lives nearby, when he came to pick up some parts from me he saw the bus and it turned out his brother owned it for many years and sold it to the guy I got it from. It's a one of a kind bus in this area, very recognizable. Anyway he filled me in on some past history of the bus. Apparently some of the film was shot in Cincinnati round abouts where I'm from. Turns out they ended up not using the scene in the movie. Kind of neat though!

"Kill Bill"... either One or Two, I can't remember, Uma Thurman is driving through Mexico in a blue Karmann Ghia.

Just saw a program on cable, too, about the Mount St. Helen eruption.  A researcher / photographer, depicted in a dramatic re-enactment, was on the scene in a late-Seventies Westy.

"Fried Green Tomatoes"... I'm sad to say.  There is a scene where Kathy Bates, a very desperate house wife in this character, is taunted by a couple of teen-aged girls in the mall parking lot.  They steal her intended parking space in a Seventies Cabrio Super.

"Face it, lady.  We're younger and faster".

Kathy Bates' character, sick of being a milquetoast, rams her car repeatedly into the rear of the Cabriolet.  "What do you think you're doing?!", scream the girls.

"Face it girls", Kathy says, "I'm older and I have more insurance".

Beverly hills cop at the beginning when a super gets creamed by the cigerette truck. It was a really nice beetle at first.

I know of two that come to mind.

Hatara with John Wayne. It has a chase scene near the end where they are running through an African city and they pass a few.

The second one is the original Gone in Sixty Seconds. They show some through out the movie.

Of course, I thought of these two when I was all ready in bed and ready to knock off for the night.

"What's Up, Doc", starring Ryan O'Neal and Barbra Streisand.  Ryan and Barbra are running away from the bad guys in scenic San Francisco.  Much mayhem has all ready ensued.  They come across a blue 1971 Standard idling out side of a cathedral with "Just Married" in crepes paper on the doors, cans tied to the bumper, etc.  The whole wedding party is standing out side the church to see off the newlyweds, only to see their brand new (at that time) Beetle get robbed by the characters played by Streisand and O'Neal!  A major car chase takes place all over the city, culminating in all of the cars plummeting into San Francisco Bay.  All, except the Beetle which comically bobs atop the surf of course, sink to the bottom of the sea.

During the chase, an old Type II gets rammed into by all of the cars who take a U-turn to pursue the Beetle.  The owner walks out of his apartment, opens the driver's side door, only to have his poor flattened Transporter collapse on its passenger side.  Very sad, since it was a "window bus".

The First Daughter or something like that was recently out, (A boring little chick flick that a friend dragged me to see) She wanted a little ratty old car with no chauffeurs of anything like that, and her boyfriend bought her a little yellow bug, i think it was a super. Also just yesterday, there was a movie from the eighty's with uma therman, and this other girl, at a bar that they went to behind the shot of her cars parking spot (i think it was a camaro?) there was a little black bug with the sport rims, bumpers, and headlights painted to match. I wasn't really watching and i can't remember the title...

Who could forget the Karmen Ghia in "Pretty in Pink" and I read that Steven King wanted to make 'Christine' a bug but decide it wasn't scary enough..j/k

Actually, I forgot the pink Karmann Ghia in "Pretty In Pink".  Not good, since I'd only seen it a thousand times during the 80's... my sister's favorite movie at that time.

I know it's not a movie, but for 2 or 3 seasons That 70's Show had a VW bus that was owned by Ashton Kutcher's character, Michael Kelso. The character now drives an MGB, but I can't recall when the switch was made.
