NH2O is right, this is on again, I  spoke to Larry just today ( for I'm still seeking a pass. door after the deer strike)  he said it's on for 7-7-7 easy enough to remember eh? More details to be posted later about this, the 2nd Annual.  The inaugural, last year, with minimum advertisement had a stout gathering of approx. 42. (for this area) Buggies, Beetles, and everything in between spanning a few States....So how 'bout some stronger representation of  Things, trucks, ragtops, fastbacks and notchbacks this year. Really great setting you will truly enjoy yourself. He'd (Larry Roose a.k.a. "The Beard") like to see a strong showing of enthusiasts to include a stronger showing at the swap meet. I may still be looking for that rust free door still....
Plans went good last year, so much of the same, it was a fun stick around see what happens next event. So I'm posting this early with it's '07 date to the top. There was plenty of fellow enthusiast VW socializing for all ages and walks. Have I said enough about this yet?
Plans are a late afternoon cruise to Nostalgic eateries around Lima, (last year one  had it's own Cruise in going on,  (the fun we had buzzing into that one), much of the same planned this year, along with a stop by a newly renovated Root Beer Stand, then back to the starting point for evening entertainment of the "eclectic" musical entertainment variety into the night.

I concur, too bad we couldn't eventually plan a "caravan" to events etc.
We can afford the fuel!
There is ALOT to SEE in Fort Wayne too.
Liked the location of the overnight Motel for the Gene Berg Cruise...

I may show up to the event in Lima, since I'm local. Hopefully, I'll be in the 71 Super that I'm picking up this weekend. If not, then I'll probably be the only person there driving a watercooled VW.

This is the updated flyer info for the show this Saturday. Hope some locals can make it. I'll be there with a red trailer full of goodies. There's a VW emblem on the back. Look for 2 long haired guys, can't miss us. Mike Boyer (Barn fresh finds) wanted me to let people know he'll be there as well, all the way from Southern Cali. He goes all over the country buying parts. He does it quite a few times a year. He'll also have some stuff for sale. Anyway, hope to finally meet some folks from the site. See ya there!

Just got back from the show.  There was a great turnout, probably twice the turn out of last year from what I heard.  Larry was very happy to say the least.  Cool Location!!!
Unfortunately I was only able to stay for about three hours but next year I plan on bringing a canopy and chairs and making a day of it.
I didn't see you there NoH20, did you make it?

I will try to post some pictures as soon as my Wife (the camera guru) gets them out of the camera and onto the computer.

Well, I just got home as well. Unfortunately not from the show. Almost. I had my trailer loaded and left out about 8:30AM.  Made it to just South of Dayton and my buddy says "what is that sound?" Sure enough the bearing on the pass. side of the trailer was toast. It slung what was left of the grease that was in it all over the side of the wheel and wheel well. I've never seen one get so hot. The trailer was a little overloaded probably and I had never serviced the bearings since I got it. It sees a lot of use and I should have known better. Long story short, by the time I got it off the highway and found a replacement bearing, I was done for the day. I was an hour from home, another 1.5 to 2 hours from the show, fed up and sweaty. I decided to call it a day.
Moral of the story: It's all about maintenance.

I drove my '74 to the show and it did pretty well.  I kept the speed down to 55 to 60 the whole way due to the heat today.  140 miles roundtrip.

At least you didn't lose a wheel.  I was looking forward to meeting you.  Maybe at the Fort Wayne show?

How is that show? Haven't made that one before. I usually try to hit as many local ones as I can. I've got one on for every weekend in August except the 18th. So hopefully I can get there.

Was this a good event last year? I'm thinking about attending this year with my buggy once I get it all back together (within a few weeks).
