I'm not sure. I thought I saw a couple bouncing around in the garage though. Do you need the entire housing and everything or just the billows?

The only ones I have are for type 3 or 4 set up, which is different than what you'd need. Sorry!

Is the type 4 thermostat the same is this?Is the thermostat itself that won't work? or just the brackets and connecting rods

From vw-resourse.com

Mexican-Style Thermostat

~~~
The original style thermostat is no longer made and the only option is to use the new-style thermostat pictured above. This thermostat is the original replacement style for Mexican fuel-injected Beetles made from 1975 to 1979 and is a suitable replacement for the old bellows-style thermostat. The thermostat provides enough upward movement in the downrod to fully open the flaps on both Type 1 and Type 4 applications.
You must use the new mounting bracket that is designed for this new thermostat, and you will need to drill a small locating hole in the bracket to prevent the thermostat from rotating.
When you buy the thermostat "conversion kit", it comes with the thermostat, the new bracket and a new downrod that goes down through the cylinder head. If your original downrod is still in place, it will work just fine.
When adjusting the thermostat, it has to be adjusted 'cold' so the flaps are closed all the way.
The linkage is definitely different but the bellows may work I guess. They look the same as any other bellows I've ever dealt with. With the kit it sounds like it can be made to work.
Went and did a little searching around real quick to see what info I could come up with. type1 and 2 up to 71 are compatible but after that is different from what I'm finding.
I do have a few engines that are locked up that I'll be tearing down in the very near future. I can salvage an entire system from one of them if you'd like. I guess it depends on how big of a hurry your in though. I can have them out pretty quickly.
Thanks!
Steve
Sounds good. I just got a call from a guy and will have 6 more engines coming in. I should be able to get you set up. I'll let you know when I get it together.
Thanks!
Are you planning on coming out for the Old Fort VW show in Fort Wayne, IN August 18th?
And if you are do you have any seats/seat frames for a '73 up Super?
I may try to make the Old Fort show. Did the Cincy shootout yesterday and will be in Columbus this coming weekend and then Delaware on the 25th. The 18th is the only weekend I have open this month.
I do have a pretty nice set of front seats for 73-74. They turned up about a week ago. One may have a rip but not sure right off hand. They are brick red, I can tell you that much. If I can't make the show we can make some arrangements somehow.
Not looking good for the 18th right now. I'm trying to get my new building finished and can't seem to muster the time. I will be heading north towards Michigan sometime the week of the 20th. If that works for you at all let me know.
PM sent.
Thanks!
