Hi
well in November last year, I managed to get the loan of a Hinge pin replacement tool ..  the pins were in very tight even though they were oiled every couple of weeks.
when the pins let go they went off with a Bang...
so, thats why I could never know them out using a punch and a large hammer .. bent a few punches...
without any instructions, it took a little while to master the tool
There are 5 hardened pins of different lengths to use to push the old pins out... , Then a new pin is pushed in place...
here are some photos of the tool being used....

its great to have hinges that don't drop...   lol

cheers

That's sort of like pushing links out of a bike chain

Well
I used to make up chains of all sorts , at work, much larger than bike chains with  tools that basically pushed out the pins...

They were much easier than VW door hinge Pins that have been sitting for 40 years....

I had bent many punches trying to move the hinge pins but they wouldn't move....
and after the loud BANG when they actually moved.
they were nearly unmoveable...

I did see where a fellow in Australia took the complete hinges off His door and replaced them with new complete hinges..
only problem was they were the wrong color... lol

cheers
