My Son is restoring a 1961 type 2 Kombi van
[as they are called in Australia]
He has had the body professionally restored and painted and is now fitting rack and pinion steering He bought from the USA, He also bought a 1963 LHD USA wiring Loom...
which was a  two year only item  in tytpe 2s and used the 9 terminal flasher unit which is no longer made.. and very expensive if You found one...
Now he wants Me to wire it up..
The other problem is....  VW used entirely different wiring looms on USA type 2 - buses compared to vehicles sold in Australia
so, it would have been just as easy to wire it up myself using non VW colored wires... and a new fuse box....
as he wants to use the original fusebox....??
which I find very troublesome...

at least its going to take some time to fit all the parts to the type 2 Van [BUS]   so I have time on My side... lol

Hi Wayne

Yes, I will visit Him and take some pics of His Kombi..
In Australia, the spare wheel was located behind the front seats in the center..
Walk thru Kombis being fully Imported into Australia.  Type 2 kombis were assembled in Australia , then made in Australia around 1964> with the Engine vents Up High above the waist to stop the engine from sucking in Dust..  VW type 2 pick ups sucked in air from above the windscreen to stop dust being sucked in..

I will post pics as soon as I take some..

cheers
