If I were to remove the fan belt on my 1600 dp how long can I run the engine at full rpm and full power for-ish, before I ruin something?... I realize you are all rubbing your heads in dismay, but I am just curious.

A lot of drag racer types do this for 1/4 mile runs, but I hear they leave it adjusted loose so they can just flop it back on for the return to the pits. As far as on the street there are a lot of better ways to get cheap HP and you don't have to burn down your motor to do it. One thing I did to my VW Thing back it the 80's was a little trick I got from a Hot VW mag. I did it a little different though. I had a little round chrome air cleaner on the stock carb (34 PICT) I went to the local box store and bought a Tupperware container that fit around the cleaner to where I could remove the lid and service the air cleaner then I  5 min epoxied the air cleaner to the Tupperware container bottom. I put a 2" hole on each side of the Tupperware container and then 5 min epoxied 2" spouts to the container so I could run the hoses from the air outlets from the fan shroud for the heater to the container. The Hot VW article said that you could expect about 3 to 4 lbs of boost at high RPM,(kind of makes you want to keep the fan eh) but that they didn't like the idea because their set up didn't have an air cleaner. The Tupperware container worked quite well but I did have to get me some big rubber bands 2ea to stretch around it to keep the lid on. It will also run a little rich at idle because of pressure in the float bowl, but not to bad thought.

Thats a really cool idea, in vancouver we have the GCVW's and then there are the stock motor challenge... So im just tryingto think of sneaky ways to get a low time in the 1/4 mile

Just another thought.
The guys at my old strip used to take the electric clutched pulley off and old A/C unit and mill it to replace the one on the alt. Flip of a switch, no alt and fan.
