Hey, Lee, long time.
How's the Autobug project going, did you get done?
And yeah, this heat riser is original but from a '70 (stock 1600 single port) even though the rest of the car is a '64 updated to 12 volt. All the rest of the car is stock otherwise, too. I heard you're not supposed to run without the preheater because you can ruin valves but that might be a cold weather issue, I don't know. I'm not much of a car mechanic yet. I just spent all morning cleaning up battery acid, too. The battery had a crack i didn't know about and leaked all over the carpet and seat belts. Lots of baking soda. Didn't seem to hurt the pans -thank God, but I owe my wife a new leather jacket from where the acid soaked (thought it was just wet) seat belt got across her clothes.
One of those weeks, I guess.

Well, Lee -68 Autobug, You are right, that manifold job was an SOB. At least I didn't break any studs!
I did have to do a bit of tubing bending to make it fit, too. The result? Oh my! It was worth it! Warms up better runs better, and no more exhaust smell in the cockpit when I run the heater!
