want to do a complete restore on my 72 standard beetle, question this vehicle has a lot of rust lol. Canada winters. can I use a frame from another year ie 66 and up and keep the same body have a frame offered to me my body is good but the pans and every thing under the body is finish, Thanks

As long as the donor car is also a Standard Beetle you can do the swap.  It comes down to where does the rust stop and viable metal begin.  If you can get away with just floor pans then I would go no further.

The problem is that the '66 will be swingaxle while the '72 will be I.R.S., and the shock tower mounts will be different. If you're admant on using the '66 chassis, you're going to have to relocate the shock tower mount on the wheel well. The '67-earlier's ('68 manual) shock tower mount will be approximately 2" lower than the '69-later ('68 AutoStick). If you have a MIG welder at home, it would be a cinch, but why not replace the floor pan halves instead?
