Can somebody please tell me what compression ratio does 70's Beetle have? Were the compression ratios the same for all the Beetles of any of the years and size engines? I have a 71 Super and a 74 Standard.

Another loaded question...

From the factory, they as low as 5.8:1 and as high as 8.5:1 For today's gas I'd stick in the 7.5:1 - 8:1 range in a stock engine and 87 octane.

When the Beetles were being produced in the 60's and 70's, in Germany, did they, in Germany have 87 octane gasoline? I'm under the impression that even now in Germany, the lowest grade of gasoline they have is a 92 octane. Can anyone validate or discredit the above claim, please.

Apples to oranges, they use the RON rating and gas today is NOTHING at all like it was back then.  Might as well be half water now.  --Ryan
