My 71 Super needs some love.  I bought this car from the son of the original owner, and have all maintenance records.  With the exception of valve adj, turn ups, brakes, a clutch, new oe carb and belts, there has been no other work done.  I have a significant leak that I believe is coming from the oil cooler, as well as a nice hole in the muffler, so I decided to drop the engine.  I was thinking I may as well do a top end on it, as I drive this daily and do not have a better time than now to have her down.  The following is my planned parts list, and is made with 2 things in mind.  One, keep it under a grand in parts (Wifes request) and two, keep it stock.  Since it has been about 20 years since I rebuilt a VW engine, I though I would seek forum help in a sanity check.

Any suggestions or additions that I have left off?  Some items are thrown in for good measure, as I seldom have time to work on the car so thought I would replace now.  Others are what I consider mandatory.

Looks about right. The only thing I would suggest is possibly dumping the Bosch Platinum plugs. Try NGK's if you can find them. DR8ES are the ones I've been running. Most auto places carry them, if not a motorcycle shop will have them. Sounds like your doing a pretty complete job on the motor. Good Luck.
